Archie Girl Power! Laser Cel

Peruse memorabilia of the 1940s, and you'll find iconic "Rosie the Riveter". A creation of artist J. Howard Miller (1918-2004), Rosie encouraged women to join the workforce, in support of the World War II efforts. Well, Betty and Veronica also arrived on the pop culture landscape in the early '40s, and they decided to pay tribute to one of the earliest symbols of female empowerment.

Painted by Archie artist Jeff Shultz, the young ladies of Riverdale replicate Rosie's famous "We Can Do It!" motto and rolled-up-sleeve, bicep-busting power pose in this arresting 8" x 10" Laser Cel™. They didn't stop there, though; they even encouraged Shultz to paint them in Rosie's '40s style, with muted colors, period hairstyles and makeup, and fonts in this limited-edition artwork. How's that for respect? Next time you're feeling emaciated, just gaze at this work, and in no time you'll be inspired to conquer your challenges while singing Helen Reddy songs.

What is a Laser Cel?

Laser Cels are a lithograph technology where the image is actually printed on industrial grade Mylar. Unlike traditional animation cels and paper; Mylar will not fade, chip, crack or deteriorate. Additionally, this synthetic is immune to heat, light and moisture. However, similar to its counterparts, images printed using this process still retain the same high quality and brilliant colors found in any animated cel. To complete the presentation and further define each piece as collectible, the Laser Cel prints will each be mounted in a complimentary matt. Some pieces will then have a uniquely numbered laser etched medallion, embedded within the frame itself. The result is a limited edition, pre-matted print that excels in beauty and quality.
